ALLFIE is responding to news reports which suggest that the government are considering reforms to the SEND system including scrapping EHCP entirely.

On Wednesday, 30 October 2024, Rachel Reeves delivered her first budget as chancellor. The budget did not provide for any specific funding to help local authorities or schools improve Disabled people’s participation in mainstream settings, despite improving inclusivity in mainstream settings being one of the Labour party’s main goals for the education sector.

Following the 2024 General Election, ALLFIE’s Navin Kikabhai and Michelle Daley wrote to Sir Stephen Timms MP, Minister for Disabled People, asking for clarity on Labour’s position on UNCRPD Article 24 and ALLFIE’s proposal to develop an education system embedded in justice and rights for every Disabled person.
