ALLFIE’s Interim Director, Michelle Daley, went to the Conference of States Parties on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. As well as an important event, this proved to be a fascinating and worthwhile one – with a wheelchair protest.
ALLFIE went along to the High Court on the 26th and 27th June to back the claim of three families with disabled children that government SEND funding cuts are unlawful and discriminatory.
On 30th May we went on the SEND National Crisis march along with parents, children and other campaigners. Michelle Daley reports back.
Don’t shut Disabled people out of mainstream education
There are lots of opportunities coming up for you to get involved in our work as we prepare for the National SEND Crisis March on 30th May, a court case on 26th & 27th June (Disabled Children v Secretary of State for Education) and the National Day of Action against Disability Discrimination in Education on 4th December.
ALLFIE will be attending this important court case on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th June. Put it in your diaries – come and join us from 9am onwards and show your support for disabled children and their families as they fight for proper support.
Our trustee Mike Lambert spoke to Radio 4’s In Touch programme about his experience of special school and why he believes inclusion is the way forward, prompted by the news that Scottish Conservatives are challenging the legal presumption that disabled children should be in mainstream education.
