Part time, 21 hours per week, 3 years contract

About ALLFIE
The Alliance for Inclusive Education (ALLFIE) is the only national Disabled People’s Organisation campaigning for the right to Inclusive Education in mainstream settings. For over 30 years, we’ve worked to ensure Inclusive Education is a right, not a struggle.
ALLFIE’s vision is to create an inclusive society by ensuring access to Inclusive Education within mainstream settings for ALL Disabled people. We campaign for ‘a world where Inclusive Education is a right not a struggle’, and for Disabled pupils and students to be fully included in mainstream education, training and apprenticeships, with all necessary support. We also create the resources that people and organisations need to advocate for Inclusive education, training and apprenticeships, and to develop good inclusive practice.

Report to: Policy and Research Lead
Salary: £ 21,247 per annum pro rata (£35,412 per year FTE)
Hours: 21 hours per week
Contract: Part-time 3 years fixed term contract
Annual Leave: 25 days per year (pro rata plus bank holidays)
Location: Hybrid
About the Role
ALLFIE is seeking to recruit a passionate Policy and Parliamentary Coordinator to help lobby for change in policy to ensure Inclusive Education as a right for all.
In this role, you will help to create trust and collectively build the movement for Inclusive Education. You will ensure that Disabled people, including Young Disabled people, are supported to represent ALLFIE’s values and their peers’ experiences in education. You will also implement a national youth parliamentary group to influence decision and policymakers.
You will:
- Work on policy and research about Inclusive Education to guide ALLFIE’s campaigns and projects
- Monitor parliamentary, government, and policy developments relevant to Inclusive Education
- Participate in and support networks of Disabled activists, Young Disabled people, families and allies
- Support and deliver movement-building activities, events, and training
- Represent ALLFIE at meetings and events
- Support project planning, monitoring and reporting
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has lived experience of being a Disabled person
- Is committed to Inclusive Education, the social model of disability, disability justice and working in an intersectional way
- Has experience of working in research and policy
- Has experience of building and sustaining relationships with diverse group; including policy makers and grassroot movements
- Is confident facilitating groups and speaking publicly
- Is organised, proactive and collaborative
- Is ready to travel in and outside London
Experience in grassroots activism, strategy development, and understanding political processes or reports to help drive social justice and real change for Inclusive Education is a strong advantage.
