For the last few years it has felt at times like we have been bashing our heads against a very strong and hostile government brick wall determined to drown out the voice of the inclusive education movement, with government rhetoric about parental “choice” and raising academic standards.
Headteachers are being forced to implement school cuts in England, the bulk of which will hit school support for disabled pupils and those with SEN, behaviour support workers, teaching assistants and individual support teachers, damaging the chances of successful inclusion.
At the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) we were delighted to see that the United Nations recognises the significantly high levels of bullying that disabled children and young people and those with SEN experience at schools in the UK.
