ALLFIE's General Election Campaign 2017

Securing a commitment to inclusive education, as a right, for all disabled learners

As the government has announced a snap general election for 8th June 2017 we are requesting all candidates to support two big asks reflecting our ongoing manifesto demands for inclusive education.

We aim to build cross-party support for inclusive education: we want political parties to commit to inclusive education and include in their manifestos education policies that support disabled people's right to mainstream education. These two simple asks set out the changes needed to ensure that all disabled learners have a civil and human right to participate in mainstream education.

What you can do

Political parties are still very mixed about inclusive education; they all still believe that there is a group of disabled children and young people with SEN who should be sent to special schools and colleges under the guise of "choice". We need to use this opportunity to talk to parliamentary candidates about how and why inclusive education is beneficial and possible for ALL disabled pupils and students. We need to build a groundswell of support for inclusive education from politicians.

ALLFIE's Manifesto for Inclusive Education

Read about and sign up to our ongoing manifesto campaign. Apart from asking politicians to commit to inclusive education, we want to build a mass movement of support for a truly inclusive education system in the UK.  We want to triple the number of organisations, individuals and allies involved in our campaigning work. So if you are not one of the 135 organisations and 720 individuals that have signed our Manifesto for Inclusive Education, NOW is the time to make that pledge. Add your name or your organisation’s name to ALLFIE’s Manifesto - contact us to do this.

UK Disabled People’s Manifesto

The Reclaiming Our Futures Alliance (ROFA) is a coalition of disabled person led organisations working at the local, regional and national level. ROFA was set up in 2013 and has been working to coordinate disabled peoples' organisations' campaigning activity around local and general elections. ROFA have developed a UK Disabled People's Manifesto incorporating ALLFIE's manifesto asks. Read it here.
